Role description

We are looking for a senior Lighting Developer who is interested in taking up a new challenge in the Lighting team at Unity in Copenhagen. You will be working on state of the art scalable global illumination solutions in Unity. You have a good understanding of computer graphics, advanced lighting, ray tracing, and can develop highly optimized code both on CPU and GPU. Your background or previous experience with game rendering, offline movie rendering or scientific visualization will help you succeed in this role. You will be working with passionate, experienced and talented team of graphics engineers around the world. The Lighting team is comprised of 10 developers, 2 QA testers and one technical artist. Their goal is to create, maintain and define modern game lighting that reaches millions of developers around the world. Features and development are planned out as a team. We spend a week a month focusing on bug fixing and other technical debt. 20% of our time is spent on research and hackweeks where we get to experiment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and developing the current set of lighting tools
  • Architecting the future tools and backends needed
  • Supporting our internal productions to achieve the highest possible lighting fidelity
  • Aligning with other teams on related features
  • Contributing to help users how to better make use of features

 

Requirements

  • Lighting/Global Illumination experience
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics and computational complexity
  • GPU programming experience (HLSL and compute shaders)
  • AAA game production experience
  • C++

Bonus Points

  • Data-oriented high-performance approach to technical solutions
  • Experience with multiple game engines
  • Good social and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Direct3D12 raytracing
  • OpenCL experience
  • C# experience
