Role description

The opportunity

The Director, Strategy will collaborate with the executive leadership team for Create and with the C-suite, to identify key strategic challenges and opportunities linked to market dynamics or customer changes, product performance, competitive intelligence, and business needs. The Director will manage Create's strategy for 3 pillars: defining vision and strategy, M&A and Deal Desk, and economics/pricing strategy.

Strategy: assessing market opportunity by performing deep analysis to understand Create's opportunities. It will require integrative, connected, and deep thinking, demonstrating both in-house knowledge as well as external approaches, including defining the current serviceable market, analyzing the existing customer base, defining segments, complete competitive analysis, and determining market share and economic viability for new initiatives. A focus is identifying and resolving key areas of strategic ambiguity that pose significant risks to business success and strategy alignment. Some examples of the output of that work may include new business model definitions, portfolio assessment, development of new forecasting methodology, SKU rationalization, and expansion into new markets.

M&A and Deal Desk: a focus on improving Create's executional and strategic effectiveness (profitability, revenue) for M&A and Deal Desk. This individual will lead a team to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage potential partnerships along with Corporate Development, marketing, product, engineering, and finance. This team will also lead post-M&A integration requirements to product, GTM, data engineering, and technology teams. The team will set financial guardrails for Create deals and optimize Create monetization and profitability.

Economics/Pricing: creating infrastructure to effectively assess and offer pricing guidance across Create products. This team will develop global pricing frameworks (historical elasticity, pricing models, experiments) from an economic perspective to innovate, grow market share, and expand offerings for the Create business; use market intelligence to analyze competitive pricing, market trends, and customer preferences, evaluate and improve on existing pricing tactics and strategies, and develop and recommend new pricing structures and approaches to Create teams.

What you’ll be doing
  • Establish near-term (typically 3+ years) functional strategy and align it with overall Unity strategy
  • Think across the organization to improve efficiencies and remove obstacles, build alignment, and enhance the team’s ability to be successful
  • Conduct workshops, brainstorming sessions, and interviews with customers and partners to understand and detail trends and changes that could have powerful long-term impact
  • Work with key customers and industry groups to identify market opportunities and persistent gaps to be addressed to give to our customer base
  • Work with the business strategy and other teams within Create and Operate to optimize internal investments, partnerships, and mergers & acquisitions
What we’re looking for

  • Shown leadership experience, ideally at complex platform or SaaS companies

  • Shown experience building and scaling a high-functioning team in a high-growth environment
  • MBA, or PhD or Master’s degree in related field
  • Management consulting experience
